iGEM: the synergy of 3 centres of excellence to identify and evaluate gems and jewellery

GENERAL REGISTRATION AND REFUND POLICY

1. Registration and payment

All courses and workshops must be paid for prior to the start of the course, as indicated on the page of the website dedicated to each course. No registration will be guaranteed without the appropriate payment.

It is possible to pay for a course or workshop in installments by prior arrangement with the iGEM management. In such a case, it is imperative to contact us at (514) 844-0024.

Some courses require a prerequisite: registration will only be accepted if this condition is met, in order to guarantee the quality and efficiency of the training for the student and the class as a whole.

2. Cancellation and refund

iGEM applies cancellation and refund rules in accordance with Quebec law.

Thus, a course cancelled before it begins will be refunded.

Once the course has started, a penalty of 10% of the amount of the missed course will be retained.

If a non-resident student cancels his or her course after registration, either for personal reasons or for administrative reasons beyond iGEM’s control (e.g. failure to obtain a visa), the penalty of 10% of the amount of the course will be retained.

If iGEM cancels a workshop or a course due to insufficient enrolment, or for any other reason, the course will be fully refunded.

As the WGF theory courses are accessible for life, the online course fee cannot be refunded once the access codes have been communicated to the student via the internet and/or the printed documents have been sent. The refund process can only be applied to the on-site part of the fee.

3. Hosting of international students

Applicants from outside Canada for whom a residence permit is required will have to undertake the necessary steps to obtain a visa on their own. iGEM does not prepare immigration files, but can provide a certificate of enrolment for courses if required.

As the school is not a Designated Educational Institution (DEI), enrolment at iGEM does not qualify for student visas. As the intensive courses last less than six months, it is possible to apply for other types of visas.
For more information on the procedures to follow, please contact the official Canadian immigration services. Indeed, depending on the country of origin, the regulations may be different.
Many immigration websites are fraudulent, so it is imperative to go through an official website such as the IRCC website for the different procedures, without forgetting to ask for your eTA.

The prices of the courses are the same for all students, resident or international.
In order to simplify the process, payments for the courses start once the entry visa to Canada is obtained.
iGEM does not have a campus, but a list of accommodation sites (hotels, aparthotels, youth hostels, rooms, shared flats, rented flats) is offered to students to help them in their search.
