General description

Our discovery workshops have been created to help you discover the fascinating world of the most beautiful gems: rubies, sapphires, emeralds and diamonds.

A 3-hour workshop is dedicated to each of these gems. You will learn about their different physical and optical characteristics, their formation and their main geographical sources.

You will also be introduced to the handling of rubies with tweezers, observation with a 10x loupe and the use of a microscope. These gemmological tools will allow you to apply the methods of identification of the different gems, whether natural, treated or synthetic. The School’s magnificent collection of gems will be made available to you during this practice.

Finally, you will learn about the different systems of colour grading and price estimation.
