IGEM Diamond Diploma
Objectives & opportunities
This intensive program trains you in the essential skills needed to work in the world of cut diamonds.
You will learn to :
- Understanding diamond mineralogy: crystallography, physical, optical and chemical properties
- Getting to know colored diamonds
- Understanding the evolution of pruning and lapidary
- Understanding international grading systems
- Identifying colorless confusion gems
- Identifying natural and synthetic diamonds
This diploma is perfect for specialized salespeople, traders, boutique managers, or anyone wishing to enter the diamond world quickly.
No prerequisites, but an introduction to instruments is recommended via the “Gemmological Instruments” workshop.
Duration
The diploma consists of a course and a practical part:
Theoretical course “Diamond”: 6-day distance learning course
Gradation & identification” practical workshop Accessible after passing the theory exam. 8 face-to-face days, spread over two consecutive weeks, according to the school’s calendar.
Terms and conditions
- Final exam 5 essay questions + 4 diamonds to grade
- Diploma awarded “Diamantaire IGEM” after validation of the 2 modules (≥ 70%)

4200 (before tax)
including Diamond course – $1,300 (before tax) and Diamond Grading & Identification Workshop – $2,900 (before tax)
Please note: Prices are before taxes – GST (5%) and QST (9.975%). Payment can be made in one lump sum or module by module.
